Regular price $150.00These warm autumn/winter button-down shirts in white, green, cerulean blue, and navy blue are made from high-quality, Japanese needlecord fabric — a much finer version of corduroy ideal for shirting. The weaving, dyeing, and finishing of the fabric are all done in the Enshu region of Shizuoka Prefecture, where 95% of Japanese corduroy is produced. The fabric is dyed in a drum washer and sun-dried, a method that avoids rollers crushing the ridges in the fabric. The fabric is then singed with fire, wetted, and kneaded to create an ultra-soft texture only possible through Japanese manufacturing.

*Please note:
My father had a soft, ample corduroy shirt when I was growing up 50 years ago. I’ve finally found the direct descendant.
The quality of Kamakura premium shirts is usually really high but for me, these shirts just don't finish to convince me. The first wares of this shirt felt a little rough but after two washes it improved instantly. However the fabric had frayed in many places on the pattern, something I have only experienced on this wool shirt.
This shirts are a great premium alternative to easy-care shirts. They are wrinkle-resistant and don't retain odors. On the other hand, is more difficult to remove stains than other cotton shirts so take care of them.
If you want to buy one of these shirts I recommend buying a solid pattern.

The Giza 96 shirts have a nice color to them but have lower luster than the Sea Island Cotton shirts. The advantage these shirts have is that are a great alternative to the Sea Island Cotton shirts because of their wrinkle resistance and great color. If you love the Sea Island cotton shirts but hate the wrinkles they usually have, this one is a great alternative.
I have used this shirt on many formal occasions and I enjoy the luster, design, and collar of this shirt. The only negative is that is a little more difficult to iron than other shirts but in comparison to other Sea Island Cotton shirts is not that difficult.
